Terms & Conditions

Pensioners Marathon 2026 — organized by the National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) and Lusaka Fitness Squad (LFS).

1. Event governance

The Pensioners Marathon 2026 is organized by NAPSA in partnership with Lusaka Fitness Squad (LFS), in alignment with World Athletics Competition and Technical Rules, and the regulations of Zambia Athletics (ZA). All participants agree to abide by these rules as a condition of entry.

2. Registration and entry

  • All participants must register through the official Pensioners Marathon 2026 registration platform.
  • Entry is confirmed only upon receipt of full payment, unless otherwise indicated.
  • Entries are non-refundable and non-transferable unless expressly permitted by the organizers.
  • Bib numbers are issued to individual participants and may not be shared, altered, or exchanged.

3. Eligibility

  • The Pensioners Marathon is open to both pensioners and the general public across various race categories.
  • Participants must meet the minimum age requirements as set by the organizers:
    • 17 years for 42 km
    • 16 years for 21 km
    • Lower age limits may apply for shorter distances
  • Participants must provide accurate personal information during registration.
  • Participants under 18 must provide parental or guardian consent.

4. Health, fitness, and medical responsibility

  • Participants confirm they are medically fit and capable of completing their chosen distance.
  • Participation is at the individual’s own risk.
  • Medical support will be available along the course and at the finish line.
  • Organizers are not liable for injury, illness, or medical emergencies.
  • Organizers reserve the right to withdraw any participant deemed medically unfit.
  • Pensioners and differently abled participants may be required to present medical clearance where necessary.

5. Course standards and route

  • The race course will be measured in accordance with World Athletics guidelines where applicable.
  • Official route maps will be published prior to the event.
  • Participants are responsible for familiarizing themselves with the course.
  • Failure to follow the official route may result in disqualification.
  • Organizers reserve the right to adjust the course for safety or logistical reasons.

6. Timing, results, and bibs

  • Official timing will be conducted using approved timing systems.
  • Results are based on gun time unless otherwise stated.
  • Organizers’ decisions on results and placements are final.
  • Bibs must be worn visibly at all times.
  • Any participant without a visible bib at the finish line will be classified as DNF.
  • Bib swapping or misuse will lead to disqualification.

7. Athlete conduct

  • Participants must follow instructions from officials, marshals, and medical personnel.
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct, cheating, or course cutting will result in disqualification.
  • Unauthorized assistance, pacing, or use of vehicles is prohibited unless approved.

8. Equipment and apparel

  • Participants must wear their official race bib throughout the race.
  • Appropriate running attire and footwear are required.
  • Any prohibited performance-enhancing equipment is not allowed.

9. Assistance and refreshments

  • Water and refreshment stations will be available along the route.
  • Assistance is only permitted at designated stations.
  • Special provisions may be made for pensioners where necessary.

10. Prizes, awards, and recognition

  • Prize categories will be communicated prior to the event.
  • Special recognition categories may include:
    • Pensioners
    • Senior citizens
    • Differently abled participants
  • Winners may be required to attend the prize-giving ceremony.
  • Prize payments (if applicable) will be processed after verification and may take up to 90 days.

11. Safety, risk, and liability

  • Participation involves inherent risks including injury, illness, weather, and traffic conditions.
  • NAPSA, LFS, sponsors, and partners are not liable for injury, loss, or damage except where required by law.
  • Participants indemnify organizers against claims arising from their participation.

12. Event changes, postponement, or cancellation

  • Organizers reserve the right to modify the race format, timing, or course.
  • In case of cancellation or force majeure, entry fees will not be refunded.
  • Organizers are not responsible for participant-incurred costs due to changes.

13. Media, photography, and data protection

  • Participants grant permission for use of images, videos, and recordings for promotional purposes.
  • Personal data will be used in accordance with Zambian data protection laws.

14. Cut-off times

  • Participants must cross the start line within 10 minutes of flag-off.
  • The official cut-off time for all distances is 7 hours from the start time.
  • Participants exceeding the cut-off may be withdrawn for safety reasons.
  • Those finishing after the cut-off will be classified as DNF.

15. Accommodation and transport

  • Entry fees do not include accommodation or transport.
  • Participants are responsible for their own logistics.

16. Governing law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Zambia and the regulations of Zambia Athletics.

17. Acceptance of terms

By registering for the Pensioners Marathon 2026, participants confirm that they:

  1. Have read and understood these Terms and Conditions.
  2. Agree to comply with all applicable rules.
  3. Accept all risks associated with participation.
  4. Agree to be bound by the decisions of the organizers.
